New P&D Pokemon Sequel unofficially announced

For all those Pokemon fans who have been waiting for the sequel to Pokemon Diamond, and Pearl for the DS, it appears that it has unofficially announced to be called Pokemon Platinum. The first image from what appears to be the next CoroCoro has arrived, this single page scan shows Pokemon Platinum, what appears to be a new battle interface, and costume for the main character.

According to TheTanooki, Platinum will be out in September in Japan.

Do you think your good at Mario Kart Wii, how about you show the world your awesome skills. Nintendo, every few weeks will release a new tournament on the Mario Kart Channel. Tournaments will place in the form of a challenge for players. The challenges could be racing a certain course with a certain character as fast as possible, collect a number of coins on a course using a certain controller type.

Look today, and your see the first tournament, try to get the fastest time on the Mario Circuit. Your scores are updated whenever you best your self, and you can compare your scores to the best of the best. Wish you guys luck.

Believe it or not, but this appears to be a wedding cake, including a Mario, and Peach cake toppers.
Well the cake it self isn't really Nintendoish, I love how they used little Miis as their toppers.

Okami Cover Artwork Redemption

Owners of Okami for the Wii had a little problem with the artwork on the front cover of the box, a highly visible IGN watermark right in the middle of the package, Capcom had decided to fix their little mistake by issuing replacement covers for all those who request them. Too bad they aren't really coming clean to the reason why Okami needs some new artwork, other than "To better reflect the artistic nature of the game".

You can choose from the original minus the watermark, or two others without the regular wii template. The email email confirmation says they should be shipped in the next couple of weeks. The art work on the replacement boxes are so beautiful you might want to pick up it even if you don't want to cover up their little mistake. To those who haven't got the game, it's absolutely brilliant, and you really should pick the game up, your won't regret it.

Could Browsing the Internet on the Wii, or DS be Affecting your Security?

While most people stick to using their PC to browse the internet, an increasing number of people are browsing the internet with the help of the Wii's internet channel, and the DS internet browser. Research conducted(PDF) by the University of California at Davis revealed that the web browsers used by console video game (e.g. Wii’s internet channel ) may be harming websites.

When it comes to the DS, internet addresses are reduced to only 22 characters, an example included was “www.bankofamerica.com.phishydomain.com”, which when viewed on the DS would be reduced to only www.bankofamerica.com, giving the opportunity for phishing artists to get sensitive information.

On the Wii's internet channel, the URL of web pages visit disappear completely when the page finish loading, giving wrong intended individuals a chance at directing the user to a phishing site with out knowledge.

As of April 22, 2008 Nintendo has not released a press release for this research.

Nyko Kama Launch Wireless Nunchucks with Limited Edition Colours

Nyko Kama are kicking off of their much raved wireless nunchucks with four limited edition colours. These wireless nunchucks remove the wire between the Wiimote, and Nunchuck, and really do make the Wii a wireless game experience. The four limited edition colours are grey, pink, black and gold, and only sold on their site for $34.99US each.

Only 300 of the grey, and black will be available, as well as 250 pink, and only 150 gold. Each colour will be avabile daily, Grey being available on April 22nd, black on the 23rd, pink hit's the site on the 25, and lastly gold on the 28th. If you interested, I would act quickly cause they sure will sell out fast, but don't worry if you only a want Wii white nunchuck, they will hit shelves at a store near you next month.

Top 5 Annoying Super Mario Enemies

While enemies are supposed to make games difficult, some enemies make you want to pull out your hair in rage, and punch the nearest person. If you have played the games in the super Mario series, you know there are some enemies that make you want to smash the game in frustration, cause there is nothing worse than a cheap death caused by an annoying enemy.

5. Spiny

While they can be considered a nuisance as they are unable to be destroyed by jumping on them and must be taken care of by fireballs, or a starman's invincibly, they are consirded annoying when there are swarms of these mindless enemies are surrounding you, and are falling from the sky from another annoying enemy, the Lakitu.

4. The Angry Sun

The Angry Sun looks like the Raisin Bran sun on crack. It flies down at Mario in U shaped arch, and doesn't give up till you get to the end of the level. You can't jump on them, or use fireballs so you need to keep dodging them. Found in Super Mario Bros. 3, as well as Mario Kart DS, I don't know what it's so angry about, but they sure are annoying.

3. Hammer Bro.

Armed with a unlimited supply of hammers, and a constant throwing rate, Hammer Bros can be hella annoying when you are small, your dead before you even get close to them. Don't forget they hang out in groups of three, and I'm going to say your be annoyed when you can't get past these guys.

2.Snailicorn

How to make an annoying enemy, first let make it so that you can't jump on it or hit it with fireballs. Then make it huge, in both height in width, and make them run towards Mario always. If that isn't annoying enough, you have to put them by ledges, and low ceilings, but to top it off lets put them on ice, so Mario can't stop and slam right into god damn things. I'm talking about Snailicorns, only found in New Super Mario Bros, these hell annoying snails need to be destroyed.
1.Lakitu

First appearing in the original Super Mario Bros and most games to follow, they have reached the rank of uber annoyance. They are Koopas, that decided to take to the skies, and throw their unlimited supply of spinies at you. Flying high above you, they are almost impossible to jump on, and when you destroy one, another one just takes it's place. If you miss your mark when trying to jump, you lose your fireflower, and those spinies are sure to get you.

Pandas on the DS

"Awwwww", the first thing I said when I saw the screenshots for the upcoming Namco title 'National Geographic Panda'. There is something about cute baby pandas that gets to people, so maybe Namco Bandi made a wise decision to make a virtual pet simulator featuring our little black and white friends.

Due out Q4 2008, the game will feature raising pandas, and unlike Nintendogs where your pups never grow past puppyhood, National Geographic Panda will feature that grow up, and have cubs of their own. Like other pet simulators, you will also need to take care of your little furry friends by feeding, and playing with them. The game will also feature use of the DS's Internal clock, with in game days mimicking real world times.

With "National Geographic" in the name you can safely presume that their will be educational aspects in the game as well, a hit with the parents, and with the adorable pandas a hit with everyone else.

Wii Fit Will Cost $90

A press release by Nintendo has put Wii Fit at $90 US, 69.99 GBP, and 89.99 Euros. While pricy at about 1/3rd of the Wii's Price, it is comparable in Price to Guitar Hero which also requires more than just the software. I'm going to say that Wii Fit will earn Nintendo as it has sold over a Million copies in Japan alone, and the trend most likely will continue with other releases, as preorders sell out.

Wii Fit will be released on May 21, 2008 in NA, and April 25, 2008 in Europe.

Top 5 Mario Sports Spin Offs We Would Like to See

Mario has been in so many spin-off titles, it would be hard to name them all. He, and the Nintendo gang seem to love hitting the field, or the court. They have played tennis, golf, baseball, and more, but there are some sports we would like to see.

5. Mario Hockey
Okay, it might be me being Canadian that makes me want Mario, and his pals to strap on some skates, and hit the ice, but you have to admit it would be fun. What would even be better is Mario , and Wario getting into a little brawl mid game.

4.Mario Bowling
It was fun in Wii Sports, so lets give Mario, and the rest of Mushroom Kingdom's residents a chance in the action. While bowling isn't a very exciting sport, neither is golf, and Nintendo made fun out of that.

3. Mario Skydiving
I have never tried skydiving, and I think I love my life to much to try, but I would mind Mario giving it a try, it would be fun and exciting, and an all around blast.

2. Mario Paintball
A Mario shooter would be amazing, but I doubt you see Mario sporting a semi-automatic riffle anytime soon. So why not Paintball, lets face it would be fun, and when you add WiFi to the mix, going head to head in a 16 player battle field would be great as you splatter paint all around Mushroom Kingdom.

1. Mario Boxing
I don't know about anyone else, but Boxing is my favorite game in Wii Sports, and it would make a wonderful Mario sports game. Just imagine, Wii Sports boxing combined with the classic NES title "Mike Tyson's Punch Out", while mixing in all your favorite Mario characters, it would be a blast if nothing else. Like in Punch Out Characters will have their own unique moves, it would be great.

Europe Can Now Replace Faulty Guitar Hero Discs

It's now Europe's turn to replace the faulty Guitar Hero III Wii discs, which made it so that it only had mono sound in the popular music title. Owners of the game from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom can fill out the online form to get their pre-paid envelope to mail in the faulty discs. It seems like Activsion had taken their time on this, but better late than never. Boys, and girls don't forget that the deadline is August 31 2008

With the Wii's popularity, the competition has been struggling to win back it's part of the market, but it appears that when Microsoft can't come up with it's own ideas, it's best to steal from others. Microsoft has released plans for a shameless copy of the motion-sensing Wiimote. It will be lacking the numchuck, and is adding a microphone to it.
Maybe Microsoft should focus more on that 30% 360 failure rate instead of just stealing ideas.

It will also feature a longer cord(three meters). There isn't any news if it will be released out of Japan, but hopefully it will, so your can kick butt in Brawl while still styling.

For those wishing for a Legend of Zelda movie, IGN has released an trailer for an upcoming movie, titled the Legend of Zelda, well too bad it's most likely just an April Fool's Day joke. The quality of the trailer looks impressive, but it's not like IGN can't afford to create a two minute long trailer. Back in '05, Nintendo stated that there was no plans to create either a Zelda movie, or another Mario one.

Even if it is fake or not, it's still a grand thing to see.

What games in the virtual pet genre are worth you time, and what ones should be sent to the pound.

Virtual pets are your cup of tea, or they are not, but With the popularity of Nintendogs, the market soon saw a increase of virtual pet simulators. Virtual pets are not new, Tamagotchis have been around for more than 10 years, but the sure cuteness of nintendogs mixed with the success of the DS brought new life to them. While non of them have met the greatness of the Nintendogs series, there have been some great games, while it seems like alot deserve the gutter. While there are pet games for other consoles, most do appear on the DS.
Petz Wild Animals Tigerz
The title of the game seems misleading in my opion, for one the game fairs much better than most games in the Petz series(Dolphinz are high on my list, but more on that later), and also there are many more types of animals than just tigers, ermm I mean "tigerz". The game is a fresh, and exciting experience, and is much more than a virtual pet game, the first part of the game consits of what you expect, interactive touching, and playing with baby tigers, but the second part consists of a storyline-infused adventure that takes you around the world to meet and train a variety of different performing animals. The gameplay is unique, the graphics are beautiful, and the story is a fun based adventure full of wacky characters.

Petz Wild Abimals Dolphinz
Like Tigerz, this game steps away from the traditional pet genre full of cats, dogs, and horses, and brings you a unique, and very fun game. As I found out, and the difference between some other of the"z" branded games, this game was developed to be a stand alone game, named Dolphin Island. You choose to play as "Mila", or "Greg, as you take care of a marine creature amusement park currently under construction, you need to care for sea creatures, maintain the park, and train animals. While not too in depth at first, as you progress in the game you end up training dolphins for Sea World like performances, and use the touch screen for other animal performances. The game has a wonderful story, and great characters, which make the game stand out among the other pet games out there. While the graphics aren't as fine tuned as Tigerz, they are still pretty good.

Pony Friends
Not having the story RPG elements like the two earlier, this game main call is it's amount of customization you can do with your horse. The amount of patterns, and colour combination is wide, and when you ad in the amount of saddles, reigns, and horse shoes you can really have a horse different than anyone else. Main gameplay consists of caring for your horses, and a rail photo game much like Pokemon Snap. Don't be turned off by the "pony" in the name, you are dealing with full grown horses.

Games to stay away from at all costs
Puppy Palace:
Boring game, feeding off the popularity of Nintendogs. No real game play.
Animates
Poor interface,unresponsive, frustratingly slow control, a bad game around. The only thing decent are the character designs.

Data Design Interactive has brought you such 'great' games as Ninjabread Man, Anubis II(where is Anubis I anyways), and Mini Desktop Racing just to name a few. The only word I can think to describe them is crap. Exciting, engaging, and at least fun, some descriptions you want in a game, but don't think Data Design Interactive knows this. The company has been polluting the shelves(actually more like the bargain bin) with horrible, and absolute sh*t games under the name of Popcorn Arcade. A 20 dollar Wii game might sound like a good deal, but you will be far better off just saving that, and getting at least a decent game. Actually you will be better off burning that 20 dollars, since at least you have the fun of a little bit of fire.

So you would think that a company with such crap games would have a hard time staying in business let alone be even slightly successful, you would be forgetting what the target audience is for these games. The people who are buying these games are not the type who reads reviews about games, the People buying are the ones who don't give a second thought about shelling out $20 at Wal-Mart, based on nothing but the cover, or thinking they are being a great parent by getting a video game for their kid's birthday. It seems like Data Design Interactive can only do one thing right, that is design great looking covers to lure those who know nothing about video games.

Top 5 Female Nintendo Characters

Females might me under represented in Nintendo games, but the ones who are there, sure do pack a punch, the following is my list of the top 5 females that have graced the Nintendo name,

5.Krystal- Star Fox series
Originally designed to be the main character for the N64 title canceled Dinosaur Planet; she was later made her first appearance in the Gamecube title; Star Fox Adventures. She is the sole survivor of her doomed home planet, Cerinia. Depending on which path you choose in the game, Krystal can either join the team, or join Wolf in the Cornerian army. Krystal takes 5th place for showing that Fox, isn't the only awesome Nintendo fox.
4. Female Pokemon Trainer - Pokemon series
While they aren't the same character, we decided to group them together. Number 4 pick goes to the female trainer from Pokemon. Since Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon players have been able to choose their gender of the trainer. This spot goes to Cris(Crystal), May(Ruby,Sapphire, Emerald), Leaf, (leaf Green, Fire Red) and Dawn(Pearl, Diamond) of the Pokemon series. You go girls, go catch those legendaries.
3.Princess Peach-Super Mario Bros. series
Sure most of the time, she is playing the damsel in distress role, but you can't deny this girl's role not only in Nintendo history, but in video game history in general. Where would you think Mario will be if there wasn't a princess to save in Super Mario Bros? Don't think she is always the one in need of rescue though, the tables are turned in Super Princess Peach as you play this adorable girl to rescue both of the Mario brothers.
2.Princess Zelda- Legend of Zelda series
No one else on the list has her name right in the series of the game, our girl here has many tricks, and mysteries up her sleeves to boot. While she as well has a habit of getting kidnapped, it is shown that she is powerful in many ways. In some games she even appears as one of the sages. Zelda also processes the power to transform her self into her alter ego, shiek. Princess Zelda who is beautiful, but can ultimately kick you butt if she wants too.
1. Samus Aran-Metroid series

Samus isn't just the number one female video game character she tops the list of one of the best characters of all time. While the others on the list might have played major roles in video games, it is this armor clad girl that holds up a series all by her self. While you know whats under that armor is a drop dead hot women, she doesn't give it all away right away, and you can imagine the shock when after beating the first Metroid, when Samus takes off her helmet, and it is shown that that kick-butt space warrior you where playing turned out to be a women.

Slightly Naughty Breakout Clone Coming to WiiWare

Game Loft has announced Wednesday the release of Block Breaker Deluxe, an updated version of their mobile Breakout clone. It will feature 2 player simultaneous play, and wiimote controls. The main drawl for the game is the sexy girls who play as your rivals. It is reported to cost 800 Wii points in Japan, a American and European release is unknown.

This announcement comes only one day after official release of WiiWare in Japan.

"Fangirl" Connotation

As the first post to this blog, I didn't know what to cover. A simple introduction didn't seem right, nor did just jumping into a certain Nintendo news article. Then it came to me, it is something I noticed a little while back. That is, the different connotations between the words; fangirl, and fanboy.I have noticed in the past, that 'fanboy', and 'fangirl', don't bring up the same image for people, despite the only differences in the words are they refer to opposite genders.

I once talked a female video game fan online, and she said that she doesn't refer to her self as a fangirl, but instead a female fanboy. To me, this seemed redundant, and out right strange to me. I always called my self a fangirl when it came to the topic of video games, and I expressed my puzzlement towards calling herself a female fanboy. She told me the reason why she didn't call herself a fangirl was what people indemnity thought about the word fangirl.

It's simple, people idea of fangirls are that they are more devoted to emotional and romantic aspects of their fandom, that they are deemed 'obsessive' with their love of a certain fictional character: it is commonly used in a derogatory sense to describe a girl's obsession with something, most commonly an anime character or a teen idol. It never seems to carry the same meaning as a fanboy, while not always positive, has the meaning of a passionate fan usually

You don't believe me, look how people define "fanboy", and how they define "fangirl" on UrbanDictionary.com. Not too similar, eh?

Maybe in the end it doesn't matter what you call yourself 'cause a fan is a fan is a fan.
